I took this photo on September 2015 while on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The weather was clear, cool, and sunny. We were walking through a quiet little shopping area in Hanalei when I saw this gulf fritillary caterpillar crawling along some bushes in a small grassy area. The caterpillar looked so beautiful against the light green leaves. Luckily, I had my Canon DSLR on me and was able to capture the moment.
Kauai is known as the emerald island for good reason, there is an abundance of rain and it keeps all of the foilage well watered. Photographic opportunites abound on the island because there are so many beautiful plants, flowers, and critters all over the place.
